About the Rolex Day-Date
Launched in 1956, the Day-Date is the archetypal Rolex and is what many people picture when they think of a luxury watch. For many years, the Day-Date was the most complicated watch made by the Swiss manufacture, able to simultaneously display both the day and date and automatically change over at midnight.
The Day-Date is seen as the most prestigious watch in the Rolex catalogue and for good reason. It’s made only in precious metals and is available with a variety of gemstone options either set into the dial, or the watch itself.
The watch has also had its fair share of famous admirers and was particularly popular with world leaders, earning it the nickname of President. Unusually for Rolex, they acknowledged this by incorporating the moniker into their marketing and even using the same name for the unique bracelet that comes with the watch.
